Man Arrested for Alleged Assault on Elderly Woman in Santa Monica
Authorities in Santa Monica have taken a 39-year-old man into custody following allegations that he sexually assaulted an 84-year-old local resident. The incident reportedly occurred earlier this month, igniting community concern and prompting a swift police response.
On the evening of June 5, at approximately 9:30 PM, police responded to calls from bystanders near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and 6th Street. Witnesses reported hearing a woman screaming for help, which led them to intervene in the troubling situation.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officials discovered the elderly woman in a state of distress. She reported that a male suspect had approached her from behind, forcibly dragging her into a nearby alley while attempting to sexually assault her. This shocking act has raised alarms regarding safety in the area.
According to the Santa Monica Police Department, multiple witnesses corroborated the victim’s account. After the altercation, the suspect fled the scene heading north, prompting law enforcement to quickly mobilize and track him down.
Police located and apprehended the suspect at the intersection of 5th Street and California Avenue shortly thereafter. The man, identified as Pape Tall from Long Beach, now faces serious charges filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. These charges include felony counts such as assault with intent to commit rape and kidnapping with intent to commit sexual offenses.
As of June 9, Tall is being held at Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles without bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 9 at the Airport Courthouse near Los Angeles International Airport. Local authorities continue to take the matter seriously, aiming to ensure justice for the victim.
